I was out today on the H-type 12m2 im 65kgs using 138x39 board in 10-12knots of wind . Great session about 3 hours and i was nicely powered up , shooting upwind and had no problems what so ever coming back . very comfortable to ride no bar pressure what so ever . and actually turns like a normal 12m2 C-shape if not faster .

And what made me wonder was Sallyanne and Gil , with 14 and 16m2 rebels couldnt go upwind and were walking all the time .

The kite has heaps of power and works really well with marginal winds.

Im on the beach almost everyday with the kite , feel free to give it a go anytime .

Cheers

this kite is pure 0wnage. What Moustafa claims is totally true. I'm 70 kg's and I was going crazy upwind in 10-12 knots last Friday on the 12 meter. I'm sure loads of people saw me going that day and can testify. I was actually having such a good time that I didn't notice when a beginner on the beach turned his kite towards mine and I crashed into his and landed both our kites on some cars- first time I ever take down another dudes kite, felt shitty Sad

The bar is also very comfortable and the power delivery is so smooth, I can't wait to try this kite in higher winds, to see if it really has a windrange as good as some people say (and to test the hangtime).

As I said I haven't tried this kite in high winds, but for light winds I give this kite a 9.5/10 Cool

More Reviews , but this time on the 15m2 Hyper Type (all copied from www.kiteforum.com )

I just rode the 15m hypertype on two consecutive days. First day it was 11-16mph. 2nd day it was 14-21mph.

Super light bar pressure - you can ride all day with one hand or two fingers

The kite jumps big and hangs a long time. Some kites yank you up quickly. The hyper seems to gradually bring you up and gives the softest glide back down landings I have ever experienced.

The bar seems to be built real well. 3 Places to attach the saftety. PU covered chicken loop. Nice swivel below the bar - I must have done 75 rotations and the fronts never twisted.

One pump is awesome. One pump to inflate and one dump valve to deflate.

the kite performed well going upwind. It also performed well in waves. You could pull the bar in to bottom turn and let it out to depower. I can't wait to ride this set up in big waves with a surfboard.

Nice bag.

Overall I was really stoked. Rode 2 days in 11-20mph on a 122cm board and never had to touch the depower. The kite turns real fast for a 15m. This kite makes light wind a total blast.

Just thought I'd put this in for those interested, I'm a basic intermediate (just starting inverted jumps), 200 lbs - bought this kite cos I wanted to add the advanages of C kites to my current bow quiver (9m & 16m waroos) via a hybrid. Hope it helps.

Bar set up
Simple no pulleys, actual bar feels small to hold compared to waroo and quite narrow on inside setting – may need to take the lines out to the outside

Neoprene line covers are a waste of time and get in the way – I've removed them.
Knots are at the bar end! Fantastic you can change knots without having to unhook from bar and walk all the way to the kite. Also when you have one of those line tangles – you can more easily take the lines off at the bar end and then re attach.

My setting for knots is both outside lines at last knot (nearest kite), then for low winds put on last knot on middle line and for stronger winds put on middle knot of centre line.

Safety
Releasing to OSH flags nicely – good for high wind landing, BEWARE the small bit of neoprene with velcro to keep OSH in place can get in the way on release – just check it's well down the floater

Nice large OSH but best of all is the small under bar toggle to attach leash to = safety without having to go to suicide (I'm now trying back rolls)
Release to bar toggle allows the bar to move 2m up the lines and completely de powers the kite. In shallow water I could make my way up to the bar and re attach the CL and get going again – reckon I could do this in deeper water – the leash line is a bungee and so allows enough give to do this in more difficult conditions

Kite
Beautiful kite with one pump so dead easy to get ready – I pump to 6psi (comes with gauge) which works for me.

Launch
This kite wants to launch whether drift self on land or whenever it hits the water. Even when it hindenberged & landed in a mess – it recovers ready to go. Very very easy.

On the fly
Well the first thing is the plastic covered CL. It makes the bar travel stiff and 'sticky'. I think this has been done to help swivel on the bar after inverts. It did seem to get better with time though. However when full of sand etc it's a pain.
The CL throw is much shorter than the waroo and thus this set up puts you in a very comfortable 'within easy reach' riding position. The depower is not 100% and riders used to that should know this. The great thing is this set up is not nearly as 'on/off' as a true bow kite – once you are used to it the feel is perfect.
This kite is so stable. For instance when travelling along one handed say going upwind the kite just sits there – no need for continuous little inputs to keep it in position. Jumps were good – I felt very confident about where the kite was during a jump as it does not have any tendency to zoom off somewhere due to my clumsy bar control!
It turns with power! No need to sheet out on upstroke turns to keep forward momentum – just power it through. This kite turns in a 'U' shape as any C kite would, whereas the waroo (bow) turns in a 'V' shape (i.e. on a sixpence) – a big difference and timing takes getting used to. You can change the bar size to it's outside (longer) setting to see if this changes things. I definitely found I needed more physical input (compared to the waroo) into the bar to turn the kite. I did find that if you were sheeted out and you tried to turn the kite – nothing happened! Keep some power on.

This kite for me (at 95kgs or 200lbs) suits winds from 16mph to 26mph (or more) which sits happily with my 16m and 9m waroos.
Jumps? Well, they felt great both pop and float. Again stability in the air gives confidence to try moves when airborne. Timing both pop and landing 'kite send' is more critical.

The Bag
What a beauty – well built, padded and quality zipped around the sides to easy to fit kite in even if part filled with air. Separate pump pocket which comes with a gauge. All the usual straps for board attachment.

Probably there was a cute guy down wind this is why Sallyanne was going downwind and walking back, and for Gil, he was probably after Sallyanne!

After extensive testing by different kiters who fly the RRD H-type 12m2 in last 2 windy sundays here is the actual windrange of the kite .

Out again with the Ht-12m2 yesterday with winds gusting upto 30 averaging at 23 knots , all we had to do was just depower the kite and go . it was great fun yesterday as it picked up heavily by late afternoon .

today there was no wind at all , but hopefully tommorow as it looks good on the forecast.

The RRD team would like to welcome Claus to its list of "GOOD LOOKING" team riders , lol ,Claus was a pain in the ass for the last one year or so , but according to him he decided "to go onto the darkside of kiting and move to RRD Hyper-type" lol

Welcome Dude , i promise i will NOT have any spares for you when you need them . Twisted Evil
